The results of the 41st pesticide registration and approval in Myanmar were announced on January 17, 2024. In addition, PPD also issued a notice to include five herbicide varieties, namely atrazine, mesotrione, terbuthylazine, S-metolachlor, and Fomesafen, in the Banned List of Myanmar. The ban will start on January 1, 2025.
According to the announcement, for the 5 herbicide varieties that have been banned this time, enterprises that have obtained relevant certificates can continue to apply for import license approval from PPD before June 1, 2024, and will no longer receive new import license approval applications, including registration of the above varieties that have already been submitted or are in progress.
The 41st Pesticide Registration Review Conference in Myanmar approved a total of 103 products. This includes 11 E-certificates and 92 P-certificates (of which 31 are E-to-P) that have been approved. Among the approved products, 18 certificates were approved for herbicides, 51 certificates were approved for insecticides, and 31 certificates were approved for fungicides.
In addition, PPD has added a requirement for reviewing and testing the accuracy of the safety interval (PHI day) and crop residues after the safety interval (residue) for experimental registration products, in addition to arranging field trials as required by previous policies. The testing frequency is 3 times, and only after the results are satisfactory can E TO P be completed and a temporary registration certificate be issued.
